Pizza! Pizza!

Another week, another... well I don't know. Just another week. I've been making a bunch of necklaces for my etsy shop and because I registered with one of my friends for a craft fair! We are just hoping to come out even for the registration price, time will tell. Check back in May for the report. And I haven't listed any of my necklaces yet in my shop so if you are interested check back for them!

Lessee, I actually had an interview for a potential new job last Thursday and am hoping/waiting to hear. So everyone cross your fingers for me!

In other news, the Avanti Catering company "worked" its first job. And I say "worked" because it was for my friend's party and I did it for free pro bono. It did go very well and I got several unsolicited compliments which I enjoyed so thanks go to Nicki for letting me make all the food and to Sam for happening to be there and helping me! Anyway, so we needed kid friendly food so one of the items we decided to make was:
My mom used to make these for me all the time when I was a kid but I didn't really have any recollection of what they tasted like. Compared to real pizza I thought they were gonna suck, but I actually enjoyed the one I had a lot! So, especially if you have kids, try this recipe!

Just make sure to use "pizza" and not "marinara" sauce.

So that's all. Make sure to think good thoughts for me to get that job cause it would be a-MAZING! and have a great week!

Very similar to the invisible "lpad"

Title-I-Haven't-Used-Before

I really just haven't been feeling like posting but I'm going to anyway, so that you can all get your fix. But I'm going to make it quick!

So I remembered a couple weeks ago to tell you all to go to my etsy shop:
BUT! I forgot to give you the discount code: BYATR10 which get's you 10% off for being a byatr reader! You can also give the code to you're friends so that they can buy you things from my store.

Anyway. I didn't post a recipe this week but I did post one last week when I neglected to post on Sunday so here's that one:
General Tso's Chicken
Not exactly like the restaurant version but I like it just as much because it's fresh and presumably healthier. If you want to try your hand at deep frying I highly recommend this!

Also I had a guest blogger last week on Scrumptious Saturdays so check out that recipe as well:
Sreesha's Summer Salad
Sounds and looks delicious!

So that's about it and I'm really posting this an hour past Sunday but dating it for Sunday so shhhhh! Okay goodbye!
I feel like this will happen to me every time I go outside.

The Crafts You're About to Want

Hi everyone! Another week, another blog post. But I kept track of stuff I wanted to talk about in this post so it won't be another "so I wanted to tell you all something but I forget what it was" post. W00t.

Okay so least exciting for me since it was like 3 weeks ago now, I was able to actually get a photo/recipe accepted on foodgawker.com, which is shockingly hard to do which got me a whole bunch of hits so yay! I got zero new followers for it but maybe I'll get a few more cents from my advertising. We shall see. It's still cool either way.

So a while ago I opened an Etsy shop and didn't really use it. Mostly cause I didn't have any ideas for what to sell but also cause you have to pay for every listing whether it sells or not. I'm a fan of ebay having eliminated (some of) their listing fees. But oh well. So stop by, tell your friends, and buy all my stuff!!! I can customize almost everything in there so don't be afraid to ask if you like something but would like it better a certain way!
Yup, I went with modeling my store after my blog. I like it. If you have a shop too, add me to your circles so I can do the same!

Okay, also I tweeked my catering company because I feared that people wouldn't be able to spell "Piatto" with out seeing it first and often and word of mouth is going to be super important. Also I was thinking that they'd need to spell it to get to the web site which is sort of up and running. I also didn't want to wait to see if my other name's url became available, so go check out AvantiCatering.com! Yes it is a little sparse so far because I haven't put a TON of work into it yet.

And I was going to post the new logo (it's the same but tweeked and with the new name) but I didn't upload it yet and don't feel like it now. It's on the website.

Oh! And I remembered to post a recipe yesterday!
Swedish Meatballs
I forgot to take a glamour shot of them so that's the "done/being-served-at-my-party" shot.

One of my friends asked if I could make them for her so I did and we all loved them and so will you!

If any of you actually print my recipes, come back late tomorrow (Monday) and I will have the printable version posted.

That will about do it. Come back next week to see some of the silly stuff I bought recently but haven't gotten pictures of yet! So have a great week and here are a couple comics!

I knew it!

Lack-Toes Intolerant

So. What is new? Earlier today or yesterday I thought of something I could put in today's post but I of course, forgot.

Well I bought a couple of books to read about starting/having a catering company and so far have gotten some good information. My favorite part about reading one of them is that it was published in 1991. Before the internet and before everyone owned computers. My favorite line so far is "if you want to, you can even spend a little extra for a laptop with a color screen." I laughed and laughed and laughed. The book is useful but could really use some updates.

So speaking of catering, I cooked up something tasty that I intend to have as an appetizer choice:
Crab Stuffed Mushrooms
I've served these at one of my restaurant jobs and, as long as they're hot, enough they are pretty tasty.

I decided that I wanted to make them myself and that they would probably be even better.

I still haven't remembered what it was I was going to talk about so I'm gonna wrap this up. Have a good week!

Just in from My Grandpa Box

So I was all amped up to get this post done, then I got distracted and now I'm tired and don't want to.

Let's just do the recipe and comics and move on with our lives eh?

Peanut Butter Cup Cookies
Yes, these are very simple but maybe you didn't want to have to type all those letters into google to find the recipe and luckily I'm bringing it straight to you!

Build Your Own Helicopter

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a good week cause here comes another one! It's weird how that happens EVERY week.

Pretty much nothing new going on in my life, just hating the cold and all that. So for those of us in the North, here's a recipe that might warm us up a bit!

Caffe Latte
I decided to make myself one at home instead of hitting up Starbucks the other day and thought about how a bunch of people probably have espresso makers and don't quite know how to use it! Since I have been a "professional" barista, I thought I would enlighten my subscribers and Google searchers.

I can't think of anything else so have a good one!
<3 Pookie!

Apparently I am depressed all. the. time. [I'm not, I just like chocolate.]
I wonder if my friends would do this for me... doubt it.

2012

HAPPY NEW YEARRRRRR! Welcome all to 2012! Personally, the even years seem to go better than the odd ones so I am psyched! I would celebrate by watching 2012 but it's terrible and its about the end of the world, sorta. So instead I'm celebrating with this blog post and by being at work! ahhhH!!!!

And if you suggest seeing that "New Year's Eve" or whatever it is movie, I will find you and kill you just for suggesting it. Seriously, what were the ad wizards thinking on that one?

Not much else is going on, so, a recipe!
Shrimp Cocktail
I know it's not very complicated, but look how pretty it came out!

Nothing much else going on. I hope you all rang in the New Year safely and fun-ly! Have a great week!

Also, this one has easy microwaving directions.

Royal Icing

So that will about to it! Happy Xmas everyone!

;-)

GOOOOOOOOD Evening! How the heck are all of you doing? Seriously. I want to know. Also if you comment it will increase the chances of me checking out your blog if I don't already read it #incentive.

So those of you who have visited my blog recently may have noticed my new page tabs. I must say that I think they are awesome and love them. You all are probably indifferent towards them unless you ever use a tablet or phone to visit my blog. For you, they are easier to click than the text links. Yay!

So yeah, I still have the Thanksgiving day layout going. Mostly because I haven't done an Xmas one yet and didn't want to switch back to the regular one in between. Also because I actually wrote and illustrated my Thanksgiving story post and it is maybe more festive to read with the corresponding layout. Or something.

Moving along. This week's recipe was for Gingerbread Rice Krispy Treats.
I got the idea for these when I bought Kraft's gingerbread marshmallows and then didn't have anything to use them for. I guess I could have put them in hot chocolate but oh well. And they were better than I expected so this year I used my own recipe.

That will about do it for this week. Tune in next week for more of the same. Have a good week!

Stupid Runaway Macy's Floats

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I had a nice few days visiting friends/family in Jersey. Oh yeah so sorry about totally lying about writing a post for Thursday. I actually did write it but didn't get around to doing the illustrations. I'll try to do it for this week. I hope everyone got a chance to check out the Thanksgiving layout since I worked for hours 10s of minutes on it!

If you waited to long or are reading this in the future here's a screen shot of it:

Yep so now I'm excited to put up my Christmas tree at last and other Christmas stuff! I should have posted a more festive recipe on my other blog but I didn't and oh well. But here it is:

Pesto Tomato Bruschetta
I already posted a recipe for tomato bruschetta but this recipe is easier to prepare than the traditional version, with the same flavors!

That should be all. Have a good week!
