Gold Coins Are Not a Liquid

This week, I decided to resist the urge to focus on NBC shows again and go to the other networks. There are quite a few gems outside of NBC so it's only fair.

Happy Endings, ABC (Wed, 9:30)

The Lying Game, ABCFamily (Mon 8:00); I don't really recomend this one, except to people who already watch the ABC Family shows, but any Gilmore Girls reference is worth posting.

New Girl, Fox (Tue, 9:00)

Raising Hope, Fox (Tue, 9:30)

Saw it.
Saw it (Happy Endings, btw).

Family Guy, Fox (Sun, 9:30)

What? It's a Power Bar.

Welcome to another edition of WHAT'S ON TV? Or I guess I mean Hulu, since some of these are a few weeks old on TV.

I was psyched to see Burn Notice's newest cast member who you might recognize from NBC's Community. You should all know by now how much I enjoy seeing familiar faces on other shows. I like her better on Burn Notice.

This week's episode of Suits was clearly brought to us by Red Bull. Come on people, when it comes to product placement, the word you're looking for is SUBTLE.

I love the logic of this. If I were a guy I would be guilty of the same clothing injustice.

I haven't watched the last oh say 4-5 seasons of Rescue Me, but now that it's in its final season I decided that I want to watch it again.
Snickers does satisfy...

The Lying Game: Not as crappy as I expected. Check it out if you're a girl or if you're a guy who likes girl shows :)

Lucky Coincidence

It's the middle of the summer and there's still nothing on TV. Or is there!? This is what I'm watching...

Burn Notice I think this is the best season since the first one. Action and good-looking guys (and girls), this show is fun for the whole family (okay maybe not the kids).

Wilfred is new this Summer. I thought it would be funny and it's actually better than I expected.

White Collar. Just looking at Matt Bomer, why wouldn't you watch the show?

Switched at Birth is of course a little cheesy, I mean it's on the ABCFamily channel, but it's cute and I love it and it stars grown up April Nardini.

I've talked about Pretty Little Liars before and I probably won't stop. It's the best crappy show on TV.

What I'll Be Doing All Summer

Summer's great right? Sunny and warm. Awesome movies. Concerts. But all the TV networks are like "yeah, time for a three month vacation." I HATE it. BUT! Thank you cable network original programming! Some of my favorite shows are actually on cable networks that like to air their shows when the other ones are on hiatus.

Brand new! Looks interesting and I'm excited for it because Lea Thompson is awesome and April Nardini (Vanessa Marano) plays her switched daughter. Hopefully she doesn't ruin everything like she did on Gilmore Girls.
June 6 9PM Switched at Birth

I think this is the one I'm most excited about. Action-packed, fun, and how cute is Matt Bomer? I mean really? Also who wouldn't want to watch the new(ish) show with Kelly Kapowski? White Collar is a must-watch!
June 7 9PM White Collar

If you're not watching this show yet, you're missing out. Unless you're a dude. It's only in it's second season so you can catch up quick. They're running a marathon of season one leading up to season two's premiere so there are no excuses.
June 14 8PM Pretty Little Liars

This is another best-show-nobodys-watching. I don't even know what to say about it with out sounding repetitive, just trust me it's awesome. Especially if you're a Bruce Campbell fan.
June 23 Burn Notice

I guess Psych isn't coming back until fall but I wanted to include it in this cable network show post anyway. I don't have a start date or current promo for you, so here's the "webisode" that inspired my car's vanity plate.

If I Wasn't Lorelai Gilmore I Would Be Gil...less

First some news. I was a guest blogger for Ashely over at After Nine to Five today. I did a DIY scrapbook page which is AWESOME. Check it and the rest of her blog out cause it's tons of fun!

Also, this week I was chosen to be the Featured Blogger on Colorful Rant's of a Fed Up Sista. I got this badge to prove it:

Awesome blog if you aren't scared off by her crass, honest, in-your-face writing style. I love it. You should too, just don't say you weren't warned.

Now onto the topic at hand.

This week (and then some) on TV!:

Larry King. He's really old.

Last week...
We had the return of Secret Life of the American Teenager. I have one word for their writing staff: pronouns. It's astounding how many sentence subjects are reiterated 4-8 times in 4-8 sentences even if it's between two different people. Painful. Example: "Adrien is going to have my baby" "I know Adrien is going to have your baby, and because Adrien is having your baby you need to do the right thing" "I know I have to do the right thing because Adrien is going to have my baby." Now that is not an actual quote but it could be. And you see what I mean. I was seriously hoping that I would be able to just not watch it and not long for a lobotomy every Monday night but alas, with nothing else on Mondays curiosity of what happens to the characters has gotten the best of me. It's going to be a long season. Two more words: acting lessons.
Someone put Ben on Castle... and named him Ashley. Hahahahaha

This week...
AMC's new crazy-insane-fucking-around-with-shit style show, The Killing. For those of you not watching, AMC likes to push boundaries with it's original programming more than any other cable network and somehow they get away with it. Well there are probably people up in arms about their shows but since I haven't been in telecommunications classes since 2007, so I haven't heard anything about it. ANYWAY. Pretty entertaining but fairly predicable. Which doesn't bother me because when I can guess what's going to happen, I feel smart.
Anyone else remember Ryan Renyolds on Two Guys and A Girl?
Moving along.
Conan. Doesn't stop being awesome. Not for a moment.
"This guy's huge!" (Conan himself is 6'4" and loves finding dudes who are taller than him)

Parenthood, good-not-great, I guess I want it to be funnier but it's not really supposed to be. But Lauren Graham was lovely as always. Oh! Huge pet peeve of mine: people who refer to "the prom" simply as "prom." Am I the only one who thinks people sound retarded when they say "I can't wait for prom" or "I'm going to wear high-heels on prom." ? (Oh yeah also people who say "on prom" instead of "to prom," even worse.) Just think about how much more right it sounds to say "I'm going to wear high-heels to the prom). So you all should agree, and start using "the" when referring to...the prom, and you will be a better person for it. </rant>
For anyone who doesn't know Lorelai Gilmore's real name.

Lights Out wrapped up it's debut season on FX, home to the awesomeness that is Always Sunny, The League, Rescue Me, and Archer (watch all of these). First I have to say "uh oh" But then again, who's surprised really? Best worst line: "Save that rage for the stage; the mojo for the Dojo." Weird, I thought they we're boxing, not karate fighting. I half expected Ralph Macchio to show up. Okay not really. Would have been AMAZING though. I have less issue with comparing the boxing ring to a stage since there's certainly a bit of pageantry going on. At least up until the fighting actually starts. Oh and worst dress goes to... Michelle from 24:
What costumer thought THAT was a good dress to put her in?
Mr. Sunshine. My favorite episodes are the ones Jose Garcia is in. Especially because Matthew Perry's character keeps calling him Bobert. Which, btw, is what "Bob" should actually be short for. This week, funny as ever and we got to see the girl from Party Down...not that ANY of you watched that. You may know her better as Janice Ian.
I too have keep my face on the front of my head.

Perfect Couples. I know what you're thinking, "what?" Yeah. Kinda wish I never started watching this one but it has The Waitress from Always Sunny, and it's in the NBC Thursday night line up, so I had to. I have a tendency to watch shows because someone I like is on it or not watch one that has someone I don't like. I pretty much only watch Rizzoli and Isles because Kate from NCIS is on it and every time I catch a Zeva episode of NCIS I spend the whole hour missing Kate.
That's Kate, and oh look! Jan from The Office.

Now if only my sitcoms would come back already.

To go along with this weeks theme of actors I loved on other shows, I'm gonna wrap this here post with one more:
Community's Danny Pudi on Gilmore Girls?!?? Heck yeah!

Awesome-sauce

This week in television... for me... Pretty Little Liars wrapped up the season and something ACTUALLY happened. To avoid a spoiler, I'll just say I am NOT going to miss him. Parks and Rec was more than awesome, it was awesome-sauce. I don't get why Bones and Seeley aren't together yet, now that what's-her-name is gone. Don't miss her either. I did like her when she was on that episode of House when she played a rape victim. Community was it's usual level of awesomeness. And that was about it for my shows.

I also hate when snow days are ruined by murder. That's all for today, now I'm going to go figure out what's so great about mini horses.

My Love/Hate of ABC Family

Turns out this topic is harder for me that I thought it would be. Maybe if I watched less shows my brain would be more focused but alas it is not. Here's the best I can do this week. Who knows maybe it will turn out better than I think.

ABC Family. It sure has some crappy shows and the two that I watch are no exceptions. The first one I started watching which, is to put it gently, dreadful: Secret Life of the American Teenager.

Easily the worst show that I watch regularly. It is about about a bunch of high school-ers, one of which (now two of which) gets pregnant, and the trials and tribulations of teen dating. It started out interesting enough and now I keep watching it just because I HAVE to know what happens. I seriously want them to make it go away so I can stop. Badly written/directed/acted/etc. it's painful to watch and it makes me roll my eyes every 5 minutes. And yes, I realize I'm not the demographic they're aiming this show at but I was in high school not so long ago and NO ONE was like these kids. I suppose they're trying to exaggerate with the characters a little but it's over done. And the parents/teachers in the show are just as bad. Sadly, for me, it is returning in march so I'm going to start mentally preparing to deal with the ridiculousness that is The Secret Life of the American Teenager. ::groan::

Much less painful to watch but with a far more ridiculous plot, Pretty Little Liars is a show I can't stop being excited for. I don't know what it is but I find every minute of it captivating and I know exactly where I'm going to be at 8pm on Monday nights.
Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of eye rolling at this one but the ratio of pain to enjoyment is low enough that I can forgive the "what were you thinking when you wrote that line" moments. Compared
to Secret Life, the overall production quality is better in every way. Better writing, better, more believable characters, better acting. However it is annoying enough that most guys would probably hate this show. Also the main plot is getting a bit annoying but I find the sub-stories thoroughly enjoyable, aside from one character's rant about how some dude just 'doesn't understand' Justin Bieber. I guess I can't expect today's high school girls to like the same music as me just because they're probably my age in real life. So that's my guilty little pleasure, if you're looking for one of your own, I highly recommend this.

If you want real quality programming, look to the other networks. I hear that a lot of people like some show called The Office. And Conan.
